Your questions, answered
Can I open an international business account in Sweden online?
Yes. Banq Global allows foreign entrepreneurs, non-EU residents, and EU-based directors to open an international business account in Sweden entirely online. No physical visits or in-person meetings are required, and the application process is fast and paper-free.
Will the account be in my company name, come with local SE IBAN and local address?
Yes, our Swedish business accounts come with a local Swedish IBAN and an address based in the specific country you wish to open the account in. All business accounts are issued in your company name.
Can a non-resident director open a business account in Sweden?

The same straightforward process applies to all 20 countries we serve.
What documents do I need for opening a Swedish business account?
You’ll need a few necessary documents such as a passport or ID card and proof of address. Our team will be with you every step of the onboarding process and beyond.
Once we've received your documents you can easily open a business account in other currencies and avoid the higher fees often associated with opening multiple local business bank accounts.
Do I need F-Skatt status to operate in Sweden?
You do not need F-Skatt status to open a business account with Banq Global.
Holding F-skatt status signals that a company manages its own tax obligations, which many Swedish counterparties require before releasing payments. For cross-border or digital-only firms, being approved for F-skatt and Moms (VAT) also improves invoice acceptance, reduces withheld tax risk, and ensures suppliers can reconcile payments through standardised invoice references used across the Swedish accounting system.
Does the account accept local Swedish payment rails?
Yes. The account supports core Swedish domestic payment rails, including Bankgirot and PlusGirot for SEK-denominated domestic transfers. Payments are routed using a Swedish clearing number and account number, enabling local credit transfers in line with Swedish banking standards.
How do Swedish domestic payments settle and which rails handle high-volume business transfers?
Sweden’s domestic payments are cleared through Bankgirocentralen (BGC), which processes Bankgiro, Autogiro, and many bulk corporate payments. Even when companies don’t use Bankgiro numbers themselves, most B2B invoicing and supplier payments still move through BGC’s clearing infrastructure in the background.
What cross-border payment networks are most often used for Swedish companies trading internationally?
Swedish companies typically rely on SEPA for EUR transfers within Europe and SWIFT for global settlement. SEK itself is not a SEPA currency, so SEK transfers outside Sweden run through correspondent banking via SWIFT. Companies operating internationally usually maintain both SEK and EUR payment capability for smoother trade within the EU.
How are SEK payments handled when sent to or from businesses outside Sweden?
SEK is not a SEPA-settled currency, so all cross-border SEK payments run through SWIFT and correspondent banks. This means settlement times vary depending on the receiving institution’s SEK capabilities. Many international firms therefore hold both SEK and EUR accounts, using SEPA for intra-EU EUR flows and SWIFT only for true SEK-denominated cross-border transfers.
Will my Swedish account also be a multicurrency business account?
Yes, all of our business accounts come with multicurrency capabilities, meaning you can receive, exchange, and pay out in over 130 currencies via our network of multiple partners.
